I recently had the opportunity to embark on a one-day internship travel experience from Hanoi Old Quarter to Ninh Binh, organized by Aloha Travel Company. As a fourth-year student at Hanoi Metropolitan University, I was eager to explore the historic Hoa Lu ancient capital, Mua Cave, and Tam Coc, while also enjoying the warm hospitality of the local people. Throughout the day, our guide, Ms. Lan, and our driver, Mr. Cuong, impressed us with their friendliness and enthusiasm.
The day began with a prompt hotel pick-up service in Hanoi Old Quarter at 7:20 a.m. The tour group was efficiently transported to our first destination, with a short break halfway to stretch our legs. The journey was comfortable, which allowed us to relax and soak in the scenic views along the way.
Arriving at Hoa Lu Ancient Capital at 9:40 a.m., we were immediately captivated by the rich history and cultural significance of the Dinh King temple. Ms. Lan provided us with fascinating insights into the past, making the visit both educational and engaging.
Following this, we proceeded to Lying Dragon Mountain, where we were treated to a breathtaking panoramic view. Climbing the 500 steps to the top was invigorating, and the reward of the magnificent scenery was well worth the effort.
After working up an appetite, we enjoyed a traditional Vietnamese set menu lunch at a local homestay next to the Ngo Dong River. The food was delicious and authentic, providing us with a taste of the local cuisine. The homestay's warm and welcoming atmosphere added to the overall enjoyment of the meal.

Next on the itinerary was a serene sampan boat trip in Tam Coc, where some pacs partake in this optional activity. While I personally decided not to join the boat trip, I observed others enjoying the experience. The natural beauty surrounding the boat was awe-inspiring, with limestone karsts and lush greenery creating a peaceful and picturesque setting. Although I missed out on this particular activity, I took the opportunity to explore the nearby surroundings and appreciate the serene atmosphere.
Continuing the adventure, we embarked on a cycling tour through the rice fields and villages, making our way to the Bich Dong Pagoda. The ride was leisurely, allowing us to appreciate the rural charm of the area.
Upon arriving at the Bich Dong Pagoda, we were greeted by its ancient beauty and spiritual ambience. The historical significance of the pagoda, which dates back to 1428, was brought to life by Ms Lan's informative commentary.
As the day drew to a close, we reluctantly left Tam Coc and began our journey back to Hanoi. The tour ended at 7:00 p.m., leaving us with lasting memories and a desire to revisit Ninh Binh in the future.
